“I have recently taken possession of a trailer made by Marc, Tim and Henry, of Alps Trailers. The trailer has been specifically made for a 2-ton catamaran amphibious boat, enabling it to drive on and drive off. This was the first time Alps Trailers have attempted to design a trailer for this job, they started from scratch, and the eventual design is entirely theirs. The trailer is designed to carry up to 3.5 tons, it is tandem axle and equipped with electric drum brakes.

Previously I have commissioned two other drive on/off trailers for other amphibious boats I have owned. This is by far the most user friendly one I have used. Despite a bigger boat, the drive on/off process is very intuitive, simple and failsafe and it is all easily accomplished alone, a huge advantage.

The trailer is very robust, and exceptionally well designed, and will also be functional for other uses, a very handy advantage. It houses the boat (multi hulled) perfectly, when the boat is at rest it sits snugly in perfect balance and with no chance of movement, the boat is easily and securely locked in position.

In these situations, with a prototype, there is usually the expectations that some improvements will be required, however, I have used the boat a number of times now, and I see no need for adjustments. Now that’s a testament to the high standards that Marc, Tim and Henry set themselves.

These guys are good, and I can well imagine that Alps Trailers will feature around the country in the future.”
